How to Convince Customers to Buy More

Taking their Kitchen from Standard to Designer

  1. Understand the customer.

Knowing your customer and building a strong relationship with them is key. It is important to identify their needs, wants, address, budget, and financial status right off the bat. You can procure this information simply by interacting with the customer and engaging in good dialogue. Knowledge is power. Everything you learn from the customer will help you customize their experience and, in turn, better serve them.

  1. Educate the customer

The customers do not always know the extent of our product offerings. This is your opportunity to inform them and cater to their needs! Give them the low-down from cabinetry to lighting and accessories, etc. in order for them to make a well-informed decision.

  1. Provide the customer more options

Instead of presenting one option, consider giving them two or more! This way - the answer isn’t a binary “yes”/“no” but rather a “this” or ”that”. Not interested in illuminated gola, what about other under-cabinet lighting systems?

CAUTION: Do NOT overwhelm the customers with too many options! The menu of options you offer the customer should be based on previous conversations you’ve had with them and any feedback you gathered. Only push upgrades that you believe will actually benefit your customer and make sure they are within reason, meaning they are relevant to the customer and do not veer too far from what they are comfortable spending.

The most effective time to ask if they would like to add additional features to their kitchen is when they’re already in “buyer mode”. At this phase, they tend to be the most excited about the brand and have justified their purchase. Capitalizing on these offers and thereby increasing the kitchen price is very lucrative for Marfa - don’t overlook this   crucial step!
